


Responds to inquiries about contract status and process in a knowledgeable manner. Establishes contracts with coroner offices to obtain records containing information on violent deaths. Communicates directly with coroner offices to request and obtain information on violent deaths. Develops and modifies processes to obtain data from coroner offices and import files. The main purpose of this position is to manage coroner data collection for NVDRS by identifying appropriate contacts within county coroners' offices, working with those contacts to gain access to coroner reports on violent deaths through contracts, and interpreting and entering the data into the NVDRS database when the INVDRS Records Coordinator needs assistance.Įssential Duties/Responsibilities Direct communication with coroner offices: -Identifies appropriate contacts within agencies. NVDRS is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is currently being conducted in all 50 states. Responsible for coordination of all county coroner office records for the preparation, evaluation, analysis, and reporting of Indiana violent death data for the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). This work establishes a surveillance system that collects high quality and comprehensive overdose death info from coroners. The Coroner Records Coordinator works with coroner offices to collect reports needed for CDC SUDORS and NVDRS grant requirements.
